Why not to choose the best?

Being from the millennial age has brought in it's pressures; that is marriage! With all my cousins and my brother finally getting married, I am the next in line to marry. But, with no girl nor job after the pandemic, had left me in a lot of pressure as to when all things will fall in its place. So the hunt began and it left me in pain. Hence, I kept this intention in my prayers daily and the Lord showed me a wonderful vision!

In the vision, I saw the episode of Abram and Lot separating. I could see the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the land chosen by Lot after seeing it's outward appearance. I wasn't pretty sure about what this meant. So I prayed and asked for an insight from the Holy Spirit and guess what: the mystery started unfolding!

Being pressurized sometimes makes you desperate, and whatever good you find you just want to grab hold of it. In my life, the hunt had begun to find Mrs. Right. If you see Genesis 13:9 in this context, what am I doing? I am basically trying to see what looks appealing to me and just seek that without discerning whether I am made for it or not.

Lot looked about him, and saw that the plain of the Jordan was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord , like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar; this was before the Lord had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

Genesis 13:10 NRSV

After the Lord showed me this above verse He asked me, "like Lot, you'll see some people like the garden of the Lord i.e. pleasing to the eye. So what is your decision based on? Don't beg me to yes to your plea but rather, I will show you the right one in time!" Therefore, acknowledging my desperation, I surrendered this decision to my Lord. Now I am at peace and ready to accept whoever the Lord gives me; and I know for a fact that, it will be for my best.

Similarly, in life, we are posed with a lot of questions for which we try to find instant answers. If we say we walk in the footsteps of Christ, we ought to meditate and seek for His Holy will. If Jesus can say that He came into the world not to do His own will but the will of the One who sent Him; then how can I decide for myself the things that I want in my life? Let us consult the Lord, seek help from spiritually strong people like priests, counselors or spiritual directors.

As the Lord said to Abram in Gen. 13:15a; 17a, "raise your eyes and look, rise up and walk." The Lord says the same thing to us today! That is to raise our eyes from the things of this world and look to Him and be radiant! So, let us fix our eyes on Him and ask Him to unfold the mysteries of our lives. If we have faith, we are filled with hope and hope never disappoints.

Praise God ❤️
